Die Vortragsreihe Horizonte präsentiert seit dem Jahr 1992 unterschiedliche Theorien, Objekte und Berichte im Sinne einer Werkschau von Architektur, Kunst und Design. Sie ist eine studentische Initiative an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und wird von der Architektenkammer Thüringen unterstützt.

Im Wintersemester 2020/21 sind alle Vorträge ausschließlich per Live-Stream zu verfolgen.

Termine und Referenten

  • 08.12.2020: Case Design (Indien)
    Case design ist ein internationales Architekturbüro mit Sitz in Mumbai. Mit der Verpflichtung, lokale Handwerkskunst mit einzubeziehen, beteiligen sie sich an kollaborativen Designprozessen, um Räume und Objekte zu schaffen, die einen tiefen Einfluss auf menschliche Interaktionen und die gemeinsame Umwelt haben.
  • 15.12.2020: Bernard Khoury (Libanon)
    Bernard Khoury / DW5 is an architectural practice based in Beirut, Lebanon. Khoury studied architecture at the Rhode Island school of Design and Harvard University and started his independent practice in 1993. Over the past twenty years, his office has developed a diverse portfolio of projects both locally and in over fifteen countries abroad. He has lectured and exhibited his work in numerous academic institutions worldwide. He is the co-founder of the Arab Center for Architecture and the co-curator and architect of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national pavilion at the Venice Biennale’s 14th International Architecture Exhibition in 2014.
  • 12.01.2021: Jette Hopp, Snøhetta
    Jette Cathrin Hopp is part of Snøhetta, a Norwegian-American office for architecture, landscape architecture, interior and brand design. Snøhetta is characterised by its trans-disciplinary approach to design methodology. Hopp joined Snøhetta in 2005, she operates a the director of acquisition & business development in Europe. Hopp has held numerous lectures all around the globe, talking about the philosophy and design ideas of Snøhetta and led immense international developments with the focus on sustainability, amongst others the Elbtower in Hamburg and Powerhouse Kjørbo concept phase in Sandvika, the world first rehabilitated energy-positive building.
  • 19.01.2021: Cristina Goberna Pesudo (Spanien / USA)
    Cristina Goberna Pesudo is a New York and Barcelona - based architect, critic, educator and founder of Fake Industries Architectural Agonism. Epic Architecture and The Destitute Institute. Her work explores through buildings, text, photography theatre and pedagogy the potential of Agonism and Epic Theatre to unveil issues normally overlooked by the architectural field. She is a PhD candidate at the European Graduate School in Switzerland in the Department of Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought and in the ETSAB in Barcelona where she writes a dissertation about the Architecture of Desire. After teaching in Columbia GSAPP, Sydney UTS, the MIT and Cooper Union, she is currently a Visiting Lecturer at the Royal College of Art in London.
  • 26.01.2021: Emre Arolat, Emre Arolat Architecture
    Emre Arolat Architecture (EAA) is an Istanbul based office, with other branches in New York and London and was found in 2004. Emre Arolat studied at the Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul and worked for Metcalf and Associates Architectural Office in Washington D.C. He has been an internationally sought-after lecturer at prestigious universities. Recently, he taught at the Advanced Studio at Yale School of Architecture as Norman Foster Visiting Professor in the 2017 Fall Semester. Arolat was the co-curator of the first Istanbul Design Biennale in 2012. He was granted a professorship by International Academy of Architecture in 2015.
  • 02.02.2021: KOSMOS Architects
    KOSMOS Architects is an international and virtual office of russian founding partners, who are working in different architecture offices in Geneva, Moscow, New York and Graz. The partners met during their studies and founded their own enterprise in 2012. This year in 2021 they will be workshop leaders at Porto Academy. KOSMOS has received awards and prizes in various competitions, including the Hans Christian Andersen Museum Competition in Denmark; Queensway Competition in New York, landmark Nike Sports Center in Moscow; Street Architecture Competition for Storefront for Art and Architecture; got nominated to Swiss Art Awards. KOSMOS designs projects and environments of all types and scales: from a door handle to a city; from hardcore architecture to pop-up art installations. The office combines art and technology, global experience with respect to local context, European professionalism and Russian drive.
  • 09.02.2021: Horizonte # 14 „Manifestationen“
